"Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning." - Benjamin Franklin

Rapid Prototyping & 3D Printing

A high-quality 3D scanner makes 3D printing and rapid prototyping fast and easy.  ATOS processes its data with higher point density where critical features exist such as holes, edges, radii, etc... This is a key attribute to downstream data processing because the more a part's features are defined in the scan data, the less manual time is required for creating a solid model.

In addition to 3D scanning a physical part for 3D printing or rapid prototyping, companies are 3D scanning the printed part for Inspection dimensional analysis, repeatability studies, and/or for Reverse Engineering to create CAD of the final.

In simplest terms, 3D scanners measures the geometries of a physical part and brings it into the digital world. The data output is typically a point-cloud represented in STL (stereolithography) file format. This data is used throughout the design to manufacturing product life cycle for various applications: creating a CAD model, inspection analysis, reverse engineering, CFD/FEA analysis, rapid prototyping, and more.
