BMW Utilizes ATOS Triple Scan for Additive Manufacturing

Category: n/a

BMW Group is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the introduction of additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing. Dr. Dominik Rietzel talks us through BMW's use of 3D scanning, preparing the resulting 3D CAD model for small series production, and selective laser sintering with polymer powder. Dr. Maximilian Meixlsperger introduces us to additive manufacturing in metal, while we follow the creation of an injection mold using stereolithography, which is later cured in a UV exposure chamber, before being used to create an injection molded automotive part.
